Why Conversation Is the Best Foreplay

There is a moment – and if you’ve experienced it, you know exactly the one I mean – when a conversation shifts. The words slow down. The eye contact lengthens by half a second. Something unspoken passes between two people, and everything after it is inevitable.

That moment doesn’t happen in silence. It’s built.

I’ve spent enough evenings with enough interesting men to know that the men who get the most from a date are rarely the ones who rush. They’re the ones who ask a second question. Who laugh at themselves. Who lean in when I’m telling a story they didn’t expect me to tell.

Conversation is anticipation. It’s the slow removal of armour, one sentence at a time. When a man tells me about the book he’s reading, or the trip he’s planning, or the thing that’s been worrying him at 3am – he’s handing me something. And when I take it carefully, and hand something back, that’s intimacy beginning. Long before anyone touches anyone.

This is why I love a coffee date. Thirty minutes, two cups, no pressure – and by the end of it, I usually know whether the evening ahead would be extraordinary. The best lovers I’ve met were, without exception, excellent talkers. Not because words are the point, but because they’re the doorway.

So here’s my gentle advice, if you’re planning to see me – or anyone like me. Come with curiosity, not a script. Ask me something real. Let the silences sit. And trust that the slowest conversations tend to lead to the fastest heartbeats.

After all, my love – the best things in life are hidden. Between the pages, beneath the sheets, inside stilettos. And often, in the pause between two sentences.

What’s the last conversation that truly surprised you? I’d love to hear. 🀍
